In the spring of 2014, five musicians from the Dutch delta, found each other in their shared love for classic blues. This resulted in RUSTY APOLLO, an amazing self-fabricated five stage rocket that launches the musical heritage of Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Taj Mahal and other heroes into outer space.
Bass Player/ Singer Michel van Leeuwen played saxophone in Gruppo Sportivo, de Raggende Manne and Painting over Picasso. He was the lead singer in his own band Rudolph Dancer. He is about to release a CD under the name of Leipzigg, a Non-performing One Man Band.
Rogier van der Ploeg played the guitar in Soviet Sex , Blue Murder and Astral Bodies and is now a highly successful director of commercials and CEO of his company CZAR .
Dutch Blues legend Kim Snelten played with many famous and infamous artists, like Jeffrey Lee Pierce, Lee Towers, de Scene and The Jack of Hearts. As a member of Drippin' Honey he was twice nominated as best harmonica player in Holland.
Onno Voorhoeve was born in the former Dutch colony Suriname, and as such has his roots closest to the Mississippi Delta. He moved to Leiden in Holland, and became the lead singer of Cadillac Walk. In Rusty Apollo he plays the slide guitar. He still performs with his own band under the name of Willy Momo, and with bluegrass band JOE
Drummer / singer Mike Meijer played with De Gigantjes, Arthur Ebeling and Orkater. He is also an actor that can be seen in many Dutch film and TV productions, usually typecast as a villain or a strange dude. Under the name of Mighty Mike he released many CD's, his last one (2013) was a combined book and CD: Einzelgänger.
